Need for Speed II shipped in 1997, for PlayStation and Windows, from EA Canada and EA Seattle. “NFS 2” in a search box often means Underground 2. The query “nfs 2 xyz” is a misspelling of nfsu2.xyz. This page is only the 1997 game.

NFS2WEB, at nfs2web.rizasabuncu.com and in the riza/NFS2WEB repository, wraps NFS II Special Edition with Emscripten, WebAssembly, and WebGL. You pick a local folder. The site says it does not upload that folder. Saves stay on your machine. A folder picker and SharedArrayBuffer put this on desktop browsers. I am not listing extra cars or tracks for the Special Edition, because the English Wikipedia article does not split them out and I will not invent a roster.

There is no statement on the project page about online races, so the online cell stays empty. If you wanted Bayview, go to Underground 2.

Evidence for this browser status

The NFS2WEB host and repository belong to one project; a separately published gameplay video corroborates the browser demonstration.

Prepare the Special Edition folder

The browser destination explicitly targets NFS II Special Edition. A PlayStation disc image, an Underground 2 folder, or a folder containing only an installer is not the same data set. Read the project’s required folder layout before choosing files. Local file permission belongs to that browser session and is distinct from signing up for a cloud service. No file size or multiplayer promise is supplied where the public project documentation is silent.

Questions

What is the browser route?

NFS2WEB reads the NFS II Special Edition game folder you supply. It does not distribute the game data.

Do I need an account?

The project asks for local game files rather than an EA login.
