Need for Speed Underground (2003) in the Browser

Underground (2003) and Underground 2 (2004) are different games. The huge search volume for “underground 2 browser” does not belong on this page. This page is the 2003 title, Olympic City, and the unfinished nfsu1web repository.

The GitHub project yurasmetanka/nfsu1web is MIT-licensed and, as of the 28 Oct 2026 push noted in research, had been checked only through the intro, picture and sound, a profile, and the start of one race. That is not a complete career. There is no “play now” button here, because sending someone to a half-built repo would pretend the work is finished.

If you want a hosted city tonight, use Underground 2. If you are building nfsu1web, follow that repository’s own instructions and bring a copy of the PC game. I am not repeating build commands I have not re-read line by line on a second source. The repository is the one source for the “how far it runs” claim, so the status stays “experimental WIP, one source”.

The repository describes a local WebGPU application built around the original PC game. Its stated progress concerns specific startup and rendering milestones. A successful compilation or a working intro does not establish completion of every event, reliable career progression or a hosted multiplayer service. Keep the 2003 title separate from the finished feature descriptions published by Underground 2 Revived; the projects can share technical ideas without sharing game compatibility or saves.
